Cartier Tank Chinoise, Platinum Skeleton

Cartier Tank Chinoise, Platinum Skeleton

£90,000.00

“Already a legendary Art Deco creation, Cartier has revolutionised the Chinoise into an extravagant piece of art, with only 20 pieces in the world.”

Inspired by the design of Renault tanks in World War I, the Cartier Tank was first introduced in 1919. Louis Cartier, subsequently inspired by East Asian elements and particularly Chinese porticos, introduced the Tank Chinoise in 1922, with a pair of horizontal bars positioned over the vertical case flanks. As the famous line passes its 100th anniversary, Cartier have released a limited-edition run of only 20 pieces, each individually numbered, forged from Platinum and Diamond, capturing the essence of the vintage Chinoises, but with contemporary flourishes and modern twists that have turned this model into something transcendent. The gleaming 950/1000 Platinum case measures a generous 39.5mm x 29mm, with a rectangular shape that echoes the classic Tank. The brancards, buckle and crown are set with 162 brilliant-cut diamonds. The use of polished grey sword hands in place of the original Breguet hands is a clean, modern look, but the watch’s dial is a highly-engineered combination of blue and red lacquer - complementing the burgundy strap with Platinum ardillon buckle perfectly - and skeletonised bridges, enabling the wearer to glimpse the stunning cal.9627MC movement underneath. One of Cartier’s most elite timepieces.
